Indonesian Tennis Player Priska Madelyn Nugroho Wins Australian Open Junior Trophy

JAKARTA - Indonesian tennis player Priska Madelyn Nugroho and Filipino tennis player Alexandra Eala won the Australian Open Junior in the women's doubles category. Priska / Eala beat Ziva Falkner (Slovenia) and Matilda Mutavdzic (Britain) 6-1, 6-2 in the final which took place on Friday, 31 January.

For Priska, partnering with Eala is nothing new at all. Even with the 14-year-old tennis player, he has won a number of titles in 2017.

Reporting from sharing sources. The first title they won as a pair was the ITF Asia 14th Division 1 & Under Development Championships, in February 2017 in New Delhi, India.

Uniquely, in that event Priska faced Eala in the women's singles category, and she was able to beat her partner in the doubles category.

The two Southeast Asian tennis players then paired up to appear in the Young Stars tournaments in Europe, which took place from the second week of July to early August 2017.

Priska / Eala won their first title on the tour at the Open des Jeune tournament, Paris, France. In the final they defeated Italian duo Eleonora Alvisi and Asia Serafini with a score of 6-2, 6-4.

Then they became champions at the Windmill Cup, in Velp, Netherlands. They succeeded in the key title after defeating the pair Hania Aboulsaad (Egypt) / Sara Akid (Morocco) with a score of 7-5, 6-1 in the final.

They then returned to France to appear in the La Balle Mimosa Loire-Atlantique tournament, Nantes. Priska / Eala won the title again after defeating Peruvian duo Daianne Hayashida / Camila Soares with a score of 6-3, 6-1 in the top match.

From France, Priska and Eala continued their struggle to Germany to take part at The Internationale Deutsche Tennismeisterschaften, in Duren. They secured the title again after winning a 4-6, 6-4 (10-5) victory over the South Korean pair Bo Young Jeong / Yeon Woo Ku.

After a series of successes three years ago, Priska and Eala have never won the title as a doubles pair again. Until they end that wait at the Australia Open Junior 2020 event.

This achievement makes Priska now match the achievements of her predecessor, Angelique Widjaja, who won the same category at the 2002 Australian Open.
