Bengkulu Exports Until October 2022 IDR 4 Trillion, Ditopang Batu Bara And Cangkang Sawit

BENGKULU - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Bengkulu Province said the export value has increased every year.

Starting from January to October 2022, the export value of Bengkulu reached IDR 4 trillion.

Meanwhile, exports in October 2022 increased by IDR 547 billion compared to last year's October of around IDR 337 billion.

"The value of exports in Bengkulu Province in 2022 continues to increase compared to the previous year and in October 2022 alone it reached more than IDR 547 billion," said Bengkulu Province BPS Head Win Rizal as quoted by Antara, Monday, December 12.

He said the high export value of Bengkulu was influenced by the high demand for coal and commodity of palm shells to ASEAN countries.

Even in October 2022, the export value of the Bengkulu mangosteen through Soekarno Hatta airport to Thailand reached IDR 60 million. "We noted that there was a mangosteen export in October 2022 to Thailand, even though the export activities were carried out through Soekarno Hatta Airport," he said.

In fact, he continued, so far Bengkulu Province has never exported mangosteen fruit abroad, but in October 2022 Bengkulu has exported to Thailand. Thus, agricultural commodities in Bengkulu Province are quite attractive to foreign markets.

The value of mangosteen exports from Bengkulu to Thailand reached IDR 60 million with total exports reaching 1.5 tons and mangosteen in Thailand for 100 baht or IDR 40,000 per kilogram.

The potential for mangosteen exports in Bengkulu Province, he said, is quite large because the production of mangosteen in the regions reaches thousands of tons every year.

In 2021, mangosteen production in Bengkulu will reach 5,045 tons, an increase of 89.89 percent compared to 2020 which is only 2,657 tons.

Meanwhile, according to the Baai Bengkulu Island Charge Port, the export value over the past 10 months reached IDR 3.5 trillion and the remaining value was through the port of the Musi River, Tanjung Priok Port, and Sukarno Hatta Port.
