PBSI Evaluation Of The 2022 BWF World Tour Finals Results: Focus Of Hendra/Ahsan Menurun, Ginting Lacks Patience And Confidence

JAKARTA - Head of PBSI's Development and Achievement Division, Rionny Mainaky, commented on the appearance of two Indonesian representatives in the 2022 BWF World Tour Finals final, Sunday, December 11. Based on the evaluation results, a number of players are still not optimal in managing the focus.

As is known, Indonesia has only won two runner-up titles at the BWF World Tour Finals 2022. The title was won by the men's doubles Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan and the men's singles Anthony Sinisuka Ginting.

"In the final I saw that Ahsan / Hendra had decreased focus, especially in the third game, but indeed with the age and conditions from the early rounds, the maximum results were made for them," said Rionny in a written statement quoted via Antara, Monday, December 12.

A similar assessment was also addressed to Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto. The couple is considered to have had excellent abilities.

Unfortunately, they have not been able to maintain game consistency when they are in important points.

Rionny then highlighted Ginting's appearance in the final round against Tokyo Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen. According to him, Ginting has issued a correct pattern of play but is still too eager to kill his opponent's attack.

"In the final, Ginting actually has a correct pattern. Only his faith and patience are still lacking. He managed to adjust the pattern of the game but in the end he was still in a hurry and died a lot himself. This must be corrected," Rionny explained.

For the men's singles, Rionny revealed that the strength was evenly distributed. Both Jonatan Christie and Ginting are already at the level of their opponents.

"For Jojo and Ginting, experience, maturity, and playing patterns are sufficient. Their opponents are all at one level and can be said that, so who is ready for him to win," said Rionny.

Even so, Rionny said he was satisfied with the performance of all eight Indonesian representatives who appeared in the BWF World Tour Finals 2022. All players have a fighting spirit that deserves appreciation, although there are indeed a number of things that must be considered.

"Overall, if you look at the children's struggles, they are maximal, they are good. Moreover, seeing those who have just played here such as Gregoria and Rinov/Pitha. All the enthusiasm is extraordinary, do not give up easily and the will to win big," concluded Rionny.
