This Factor Is The Main Focus Of PBSI In Improvements In 2023

JAKARTA - Head of the Development and Achievement Division of PBSI Rionny Mainaky will focus on fixing the non-technical factors of Pelatnas athletes in 2023. This is the aftermath of Indonesia's failure to bring trophies from the BWF World Tour Finals 2022.

In the tournament which took place at Nimibutr Arena, Bangkok, Thailand, Indonesia was not held. Two representatives of Merah Putih, namely Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, lost in the final.

In the final match, Ginting had to admit the superiority of Danish representative Viktor Axelsen with a score of 13-21, 14-21, while The Daddies lost to Chinese representatives, Liu Yu Chen/Ou Xuan Yi, 17-21, 21-19, 12-21.

"Next year, we will focus on improving and increasing non-technical factors," said Rionny in a statement received by VOI on Monday, December 12, 2022.

Rionny said that the overall struggle of the Indonesian representatives had actually been maximized. However, there must still be an evaluation that must be done to face the big tournament next year.

"The shortcomings are further improved in training with the coach. The most important thing is how they have the will to improve first, to improve their abilities," said Rionny.

Indonesia has sent a total of seven representatives to the closing event of the season. In addition to the two names above, the other representatives who appeared were Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari, Fajar Alfian/Mohammad Rian Ardianto, Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti, and Jonatan Christie.

Of the five representatives, Jonatan, Rinov/Pitha, and Fajar/Rian managed to reach the semifinals. Meanwhile, Apri/Fadia and Gregoria immediately went home in the group stage.

An international badminton tournament will take a short vacation before returning to the second week of January 2023 with the holding of the 2023 Malaysia Open level BWF World Tour Super 1000.
