Ngurah Rai Airport Will Close In 2022 With A Total Of 12 Million Passengers

JAKARTA - General Manager of Angkasa Pura I Airport I Gusti Ngurah Rai Bali Handy Heryudhiawan is optimistic that he can close 2022 with a total of 12 million passengers if you reflect on the data of travelers until before Christmas and New Year.

"Until the end of this year, we estimate that from the available data we can penetrate 12 million passengers and are optimistic, while in 2021 we will close the 3.7 million books. We continue to see and may continue to rise," he said in Denpasar, quoted from Antara, Monday 12 December.

When met at the residence of the Governor of Bali, in Jayasabha, Handy said that in November 2022 passengers at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport reached 10.8 million with 44 thousand-45 thousand passengers per day, and entering December, their arrival could reach 49 thousand-50 thousand passengers per day.

"But what needs to be anticipated is that this is still below 2019. In 2019 the peak period in Denpasar is up to 24 million passengers, 65-70 thousand per day, currently 49 thousand-50 thousand, still below," he said.

Despite being hit by slanted issues about the Criminal Code, Handy said he was optimistic that the target of 12 million passengers could be achieved if seen from the increasing domestic and international figures dominated by Australia, India and the United Kingdom.

To anticipate the surge in passengers during Christmas and New Year, Handy said that his party would alert the Christmas and New Year's Command Post, which is predicted to be built on December 18, 2022-4 January 2023, waiting for the direction of the Ministry of Transportation.

"Christmas and our new year are as usual to prepare posts and we have to ensure readiness from the airport to serve, so from the existing data there is indeed current growth. This is a sign for Bali in particular, that the better in terms of guest arrivals, the higher it is," he said.

Christmas and New Year's Command Posts, he said, will be used for operations, security, services, and gathering places for various institutions to coordinate faster when there is an increase in users of the air transportation service.

"So because there are indeed many guests who come, they must be followed up immediately, this is related to being more coordinated in one place. We will prepare a place at the airport," said GM Angkasa Pura I Bali I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport.

When compared to the conditions at the end of 2021, Handy sees this year the Christmas and New Year's Command Post which will be built at the domestic terminal will be more closely coordinated, because the movement will be different from 2021 which is strict due to COVID-19.

Regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, which has not yet fully ended, he said that I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport continues to coordinate with the Port Health Office (KKP) to ensure the rules that must be applied.

From his records, Handy also saw that there had been no extra flight efforts considering that there were still some vacant slots out of a total of 32 take-offs and landing Notice of Airport Capacity (NAC) I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport.
