Kaesang And Erina's Marriage Considered Part Of The Cultural Preservation
JAKARTA - SOE Minister Erick Thohir as Chair of the marriage committee for Kaesang Pangarep and Erina Gudono expressed his pride for the wedding ceremony of President Jokowi and Iriana's youngest son who succeeded in presenting a cultural festival.
The parade of a group of brides from Loji Gandrung to Mangkunegaran Temple, which is 1.8 km away, is considered something that has been rare for the public.
"This is a very rare culture that we remember, it has not even been repeated for decades. People haven't seen it for a long time," said Erick Thohir to the media crew at Mangkunegaran Temple, Sunday, December 11.
Erick assessed that what was held throughout the marriage ceremony of Kaesang and Erina was a serious effort to maintain a very high-value Indonesian culture.
"That is a culture that we must protect. As a developed country, don't forget the culture of the nation itself," he said.
The statement from the Minister of SOEs was in line with President Joko Widodo's press statement before downloading the mantu. Jokowi considers that displaying cultural values is a good effort to maintain the culture itself.
"We must show love for culture so that our cultural identity reappears and our character, our cultural character we also love more and more," said Jokowi.
Erick Thohir also talked about his experience while he was chairman of the committee. He admitted that he felt challenged to collaborate on cultural festivals in the context of Kaesang and Erina's wedding with car free day in Solo.
"The most challenging thing is how this event does not disturb people who are car free day. So that the Cultural Festival can go hand in hand," he concluded.
For information, Kaesang and Erina, along with their extended families chose to get married with traditional Javanese traditions. After yesterday's marriage contract, the two of them will end a series of wedding events at the assessment of session 2 which will take place at 19.30 WIB later.
