Volunteers From Central Java And East Java Come To Cianjur, Assistance To Accelerate Earthquake Victim Management

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) received assistance from new volunteers from various regions in Central Java and East Java to provide services for earthquake victims in Cianjur, West Java, especially in distributing water and logistics to remote areas.

PMI Cianjur Emergency Response Coordinator, Fajar Aciana in Cianjur, said that most volunteers from Central Java and East Java came for the third time after the volunteers on duty were first withdrawn for recovery after helping earthquake residents in 274 evacuation points.

"We will continue to provide various services for victims of the Cianjur earthquake, especially now that we have established a centralized command post on Jalan Pangeran Hidayattu which is more familiarly called Camp Joglo, where all services will be carried out at one point," said Fajar, quoted from Antara, Sunday 11 December.

"Even all volunteers from various regions before being deployed to a number of shadow posts are required to report themselves to the camp, so that their presence is recorded and will be placed in a shadow post in need," he said.

Fajar said the services to be provided at the main post ranged from logistics assisted by the distribution to remote areas where vehicles were difficult to reach using 22 trail motorbikes from PMI Pemalang volunteers, clean water services, sanitation development to emergency shelters.

"For residents who need services, including health, ambulances, trauma healing, and looking for their missing families, up to the public kitchen, just come to PMI's holding post on Jalan Pangeran Hidayatullah, to be precise next to SMKN I Cianjur," he said.

His party also noted that until the 20th day, the distribution of clean water to hundreds of shelters and housing posts for affected residents served by 16 water tanker trucks had reached 1.8 million liters of water supplied from the Cianjur PDAM.

"We will continue to focus on providing various servants to the victims of the Cianjur earthquake, for three months and being extended to recovery in the next six months," he said.
