What's New In The New Year's Trumpet Amid The Pandemic?

SURABAYA - The COVID-19 pandemic that entered Indonesia in early March 2020 changed everything. A new lifestyle, limiting meetings to postponing trips, was done by many people.

How are you with the trumpet that sounds you hear every New Years Eve? Everywhere there are instructions not to hold New Year's celebrations that could trigger crowds.

Meanwhile in Surabaya, the sale of trumpets is prohibited by the City Government. In fact, trumpet traders in many areas, including Surabaya, are struggling to find sustenance on the roadside. Risma's wish that no one sells trumpets is none other than because the COVID-19 pandemic is still hitting.

The Mayor of Surabaya, Tri Rismaharini, said he was worried about the risk of transmission that could be caused by the trumpet. Because, before buying the trumpet, the seller or buyer will try it first.

"I am worried that later the (trumpet) will try to blow it and replace it, the risk of transmission is enormous. So I urge no one to sell trumpets in Surabaya," said Mayor Risma at Surabaya City Hall, Thursday, December 17.

Moreover, said Risma, when the trumpet was blown, the saliva would automatically enter the trumpet. So that this can increase the risk of transmitting COVID-19.

"Because I am afraid it will spread to other people, the risk is enormous, especially for our children," he said.

However, Risma said that if there were residents who took the initiative to make their own trumpets for their own use, then he did not have a problem.

"If you make it yourself, please (go ahead). It means you use it yourself and not sell it," he said.

The Surabaya City Government will conduct raids on trumpet sellers in Surabaya. This is solely done to protect Surabaya residents and prevent transmission of COVID-19.

"Surely we have raids, the prosecution is in accordance with the Surabaya Regional Regulation on public order and public order," he said.

On the other hand, Risma also invited the public to report to Command Center 122 if they saw a trumpet seller. For him, public safety and health is the main thing. On the other hand, he also does not want the Covid-19 cases in Surabaya to increase again.

"Once again, we ask for your cooperation. The faster we break the chain of COVID-19, the sooner we will return to normal life," he concluded.
