Coordinating Minister Airlangga: Indonesia Big Market For World Halal Products

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto said Indonesia has a great opportunity to become a leading halal producer at the world level.

In addition, according to him, Indonesia is also able to become the largest market for halal products in the world, by taking advantage of the benefits of demographic bonuses and as a country with the largest Muslim population in the world.

"Indonesia as the largest Muslim home with a population of 229.6 million in 2020, has Muslim spending (for halal products and services) reaching 184 billion US dollars in 2020, and is estimated in 2025 to be 281.6 billion US dollars. So this is a big market," said Coordinating Minister Airlangga Hartarto in his statement, quoted from Antara, Sunday, December 11.

Seeing this huge potential, Coordinating Minister Airlangga said it was necessary to reposition so that Indonesia would not only become a target market, but was able to encourage increased halal production.
