DFB Keeps Trust In Hansi Flick Even Though Germany Managed To Be Bersinar In The 2022 World Cup Qatar
JAKARTA - Hansi Flick's future in the German national team, which was threatened, has now come to a clear point. The German Football Association (DFB) decided to continue to use the services of the former Bayern Munich coach.
Hansi Flick will remain in charge of the German national team until Euro 2024. This deal was taken after the coach held talks with DFB president Bernd Neuendorf and vice president Hans-Joachim Watzke.
"Staf coach and I am optimistic about the European Championships in our own country," Flick said, as reported by LiveScore.
"As a team, we can achieve more than we showed in Qatar. We missed a great opportunity there."
"We will learn from that. We all want all of Germany to gather behind the national team again in the 2024 European Cup," he continued.
Meanwhile, Neuendorf added, Flick has the full support of the DFB. He believes Germany will rise at Euro 2024 because it will appear at home.
Our goal is to make this tournament a success in sports. We have full trust in Hansi Flick. He will overcome this challenge with his team," he said.
Flick replaces Joachim Low after Euro 2020. He was tasked with returning Die Adler's prestige after two major consecutive disappointing tournaments.
In Russia 2018, Germany was eliminated in the group stage. This was then repeated in Qatar 2022. The result made Germany's technical director, Oliver Bierhoff, resign.
"Regarding Oliver Bierhoff's successor, we have agreed that we will first discuss the future structure of this field of responsibility within the DFB and then make a personnel decision," Neuendorf said.
