BNPT Evaluation Of The Terrorism Handling Program After The Bombings At The Astanaanyar Police, Bandung
BANDUNG - The National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) conducted an evaluation of terrorism handling programs. The evaluation was carried out after the bomb exploded at the Astanaanyar Police, Bandung City, West Java on Wednesday, December 7 yesterday.
BNPT Main Secretary Major General TNI Dedi Sambowo said his party periodically continues to carry out evaluation steps because the handling of terrorism must be carried out by all stakeholders.
"(Evaluation) is carried out continuously, including in carrying out activities that started at the beginning of the year," said Dedi in Malang Regency, East Java, Thursday, December 8, quoted from Antara.
In an effort to deal with terrorism in Indonesia, continued Dedi, cooperation is needed with a number of relevant agencies, such as the National Police, the TNI, and local governments.
According to him, with the cooperation of all relevant parties to fight terrorism, the efforts made can run optimally and ultimately eliminate intolerant and terrorism ideas in Indonesia.
"Of course we together with the TNI, Polri, and local governments, including from a number of organizations, to fight terrorism. We are together to eliminate these intolerant and terrorism notions," he explained.
Regarding the suicide bombing at the Astanaanyar Police, Dedi said the suicide bomber was under the supervision of BNPT and a number of other institutions.
"(Supervision) For all, the ex or former convicts (convicts of terrorism) all exist and are recorded. Our nation is a pluralistic nation, our country consists of many ethnic groups. No group should want other ideologies other than the Pancasila ideology," he said.
Meanwhile, on the same occasion, former convict Pujianto or known as Raider Bakiyah said the suicide bombing was a form of belief from the perpetrators.
"To return to the Republic of Indonesia is a long way to go. They (terrorists) are like that because of their understanding. For me, being able to return to the Republic of Indonesia requires a long learning process," said Pujianto.
A suicide bomb explosion occurred at the Astanaanyar Police station, Bandung City, West Java, Wednesday, at 08.20 WIB. The suicide bomber was identified as Agus Sujatno alias Agus Muslim, who was detained at the Nusakambangan Correctional Institution (Lapas) for being involved in the Cicindo bombing, West Java, in 2017.
Agus Muslim, the perpetrator who is affiliated with Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD), served a sentence of four years and was released in September 2021.
