Met By Acting Governor Heru, Nasaruddin Umar Emphasized That The Istiqlal Mosque Is Prohibited For Political Activities
JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono met with the Grand Imam of the Istiqlal Mosque, Nasaruddin Umar in the reception room for guests at the Istiqlal Mosque.Nasaruuddin asked Heru to support the Istiqlal Mosque to become one of the icons of Jakarta. Nasaruddin also emphasized that the Istiqlal Mosque was prohibited from becoming a location for political activities."We are ready to support the DKI Provincial Government's program. We are also raising interfaith harmony, the hall in Istiqlal is also used for various activities, except for political activities," said Nasaruddin at the Istiqlal Mosque, Thursday, December 8.Heru, during his visit, reviewed the mosque area and the results of the arrangement or revitalization of the Istiqlal Mosque. Heru revealed that this meeting also discussed increasing cooperation between the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and the Istiqlal Mosque in the context of coaching and maintaining religious harmony."We are here (silaturahmi) to you (Imam Besar Istiqlal). There is nothing else but we want to increase synergy," said Heru.Heru promised to provide support by adding cleaning officers to help maintain the beauty and cleanliness of the environment around the Istiqlal Mosque, such as sidewalks or pedestrian lines around it.The DKI Provincial Government also assisted in additional development activities at the Istiqlal Mosque by accelerating development licensing and coordinating with the central government to fight for improvements to the Istiqlal Mosque."Later we will help, there will be additional development activities, maybe the licensing will be accelerated later. We will also coordinate with the Minister of SOEs and PUPR, later there will be a slight improvement at Monas and can be synergized with Istiqlal, whatever is needed, we will prepare it," explained Heru.Furthermore, Heru appreciated the Istiqlal Mosque for being the first mosque in the world to receive an Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiency (EDGE) final award from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) as a green building/environmentally friendly building.
