Amien Rais Asks Rizieq Shihab To Be Released From Detention, There Are 11 Guarantor

JAKARTA - Amien Rais visited the National Police Headquarters with the intention of meeting the National Police Chief, General Idham Aziz. Amien Rais wants to discuss the case that befell Rizieq Shihab.

"Alhamdulillah, we want to meet the National Police Chief but he is outside the office. We basically want to meet whoever the representative is," Amien Rais told reporters, Thursday, December 17.

Amien Rais, who was accompanied by a number of people, was then directed to meet the Head of Public Relations of the National Police, Inspector General Argo Yuwono. However, Amien Rais was only accepted by the staff.

"Then taken to the Public Relations Division, the Head of Himas Division was away. So earlier we were accepted by his staff," he said.

Quoted from a written press statement distributed by Amien Rais, it was stated that he came to the National Police Headquarters because he was concerned about Rizieq Shihab who was hit by a case after returning from Saudi Arabia.

"We as the nation's children are very concerned about the life of the nation and state at this time, especially after the return of Habib Muhammad Rizieq Shihab (HRS). HRS should be involved by the government to build national stability in order to realize the ideals of the nation and state. It is very unfortunate that the opposite has occurred. the noise was widespread and prolonged, "he said.

Amien Rais conveyed that the cause of the case that caught Rizieq Shihab was because the government could not have an open dialogue with the supporters of the Grand Imam of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI). Yet if that was done, this case was called Amien Rais would not have happened.

"In fact, if the government with good intentions is able to open up and build dialogue with sincerity, it is believed that the situation and conditions of social and political life will be better," he explained.

"The noise that occurs and the obstruction of the dialogue channel has widened the distance between the government and HRS supporters. Such conditions cannot be underestimated, because they have the potential to weaken national unity and cohesion," continued Amien Rais.

Moreover, said Amien, the emergence of a new case, namely the shooting of six special FPI troops, made the situation worse. In addition, it is suspected that this case constitutes a gross human rights violation.

"We are very worried that the Indonesian nation will split into two opposing sides as a result of the killing of six FPI soldiers and the crowd case that will lead to the detention of HRS. It is undeniable that the police continue to claim the truth. On the other hand, FPI and its supporters are always cornered and positioned as the wrong party, "said Amien Rais.

There are a number of points that are suggested to be done in order to reduce the situation that is getting hotter and not conducive, and for the sake of upholding law and justice, namely:

1. The police immediately released HRS from custody, and in return we listed below are ready to act as guarantor.

2. Immediately establish a Joint Fact Finding Team (TGPF) which is independent, free from influence and pressure from any party to fully investigate serious human rights crimes and terrorism crimes for the killing of six FPI soldiers.

3. Inviting all the nation's children to continue to supervise, guard and participate intensely in advocating for the entire process of resolving the human tragedy.

In closing, we need to remind you that acts of ignorance, fabrication and embezzlement of the process of solving this humanitarian tragedy have the potential to trigger people's anger, which can lead to riots and widespread social resistance.
