Osaka Police Open Case Of Death Of Hana Kimura
JAKARTA - The Osaka Police, Japan opened a legal case regarding a man suspected of bullying Hana Kimura, the Terrace House star who died this year due to suicide.
Launching Variety, Thursday, December 17, the police will submit the case to prosecutors in Osaka. They suspect a man, whose name has not been identified, frequently sends threatening messages anonymously to Hana Kimura.
Hana Kimura is an Indonesian-blooded wrestler who is a regular member of the Terrace House broadcast on Fuji Television and Netflix.
In one episode, Kimura was annoyed with a man on the show. But their bickering resulted in bullying Hana Kimura on social media. He was criticized not only for his attitude but also for his appearance.
"I receive messages every day and I can't deny it hurts my feelings," Kimura said via social media.
Local Japanese media reported a man admitted anonymously to Hana Kimura and apologized to Kimura's family. The Terrace House program was also canceled after Hana Kimura died.
In May, Sanae Takaichi, Former Minister of Home Affairs and Communications of Japan asked the government to start a discussion regarding cyberbullying in which users who use accounts to send hate messages can be identified.
