Post-eruption Of Mount Semeru, PLN Ensures That The Electricity Supply Of Residents And Refugees Is Safe

LUMAJANG - PT PLN (Persero) ensures that electricity supply in areas affected by the eruption of Mount Semeru is not disrupted, including in all evacuation posts.

In addition, PLN has also established electricity posts equipped with dozens of officers and work equipment who are ready at the affected locations.

East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa appreciated PLN's quick action to restore electricity supply.

"PLN has done 100 percent of its duties, thank you very much because electricity is very important, many community activities must be supported by electricity," said Khofifah in a press statement, Tuesday, December 7.

Personnel from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Lumajang Regency, Sriyono, said that the recovery of electricity supply in disaster-affected areas made the evacuation process run smoothly.

"Because of normal electricity, we are helped to carry out the evacuation process and serve the refugees, starting from lighting, providing food, providing health services, to loading communication tools that we use for coordination," said Sriyono.

General Manager of PLN East Java Distribution Main Unit Lasiran said PLN maintains the reliability of electricity supply at 14 evacuation posts for residents affected by the Semeru eruption spread across the Candipuro and Pronojiwo areas of East Java.

"In addition to the electricity supply that we maintain for reliability, we are also preparing generators for urgent public needs," said Lasiran.

Lasiran said that PLN had also succeeded in restoring 120 distribution substations from 121 substations affected on Tuesday, December 6, so that electricity supply for 29,945 customers had returned to normal.

"Furthermore, since December 4, we have also continued to distribute aid such as ready-to-eat food, rice, snacks, food trucks, portable bathrooms, health services and ambulances. We have also established electricity posts to be ready at the affected locations," said Lasiran.
