In The Aftermath Of RK-Mahfud MD's Problem, PKS Asks Home Affairs Minister Tito To Intervene

JAKARTA - Member of Commission II DPR Social Justice Party (PKS) faction Nasir Djamil asked the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian to intervene to discipline regional heads.

He conveyed this in response to West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil who asked the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD to be responsible for the crowds to pick up the Grand Imam of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Rizieq Shihab in a number of places.

This discipline is carried out by providing understanding by regional heads.

"We will ask the Minister of Home Affairs to discipline regional heads like this by providing understanding," Nasir said when contacted by VOI, Thursday, December 17.

Previously reported, after being questioned at the West Java Regional Police Headquarters, Ridwan Kamil said Mahfud MD's statement was the root of the problem of the protracted case of the Rizieq Shihab crowd in a number of locations. Ridwan Kamil said Mahfud MD must take responsibility.

"In my opinion, all this protracted chaos has started since the statement from Pak Mahfud that HRS (Rizieq Shihab) 's pick-up is permitted," said Ridwan Kamil after being investigated in the case of the Megamendung crowd at the West Java Police, Bandung, Wednesday, December 16.

Mahfud MD's statement was mentioned by Ridwan Kamil as making interpretations, especially for supporters of Rizieq Shihab. They moved to Soekarno-Hatta Cengkareng Airport, Banten to pick up.

"That is where (Mahfud MD's statement) becomes the interpretation of thousands of people who come to the airport, as long as it is orderly and peaceful, there will be an extraordinary crowd. So there is this interpretation as if there is a discretion from Pak Mahfud to PSBB in Jakarta, PSBB in West Java and so on, "he said.

Hearing Ridwan ask himself to be responsible, Mahfud also answered this through his Twitter account @mohmahfudmd and claimed he was ready to take responsibility for his statement.

"Ready, Kang RK. I am responsible. I announced that HRS was allowed to return to Indonesia because he had the legal right to return," he said in his official account.

In addition, he also confirmed that he had announced the matter of picking up Rizieq at the airport even though at that time he emphasized that the pick-ups must be orderly and obey health protocols to prevent transmission of COVID-19.

"I also announced that HRS could be picked up in an orderly manner and did not violate health protocols. I also asked HRS to be delivered to Petamburan," he said.

Even so, he felt this was conveyed because the government at that time provided discretion for pick-up, security, and delivery and everything was running in an orderly manner. "But the events in the evening and the following days that stirred up crowds were beyond the discretion I announced," he stressed.
