All Game Prices In Microsoft Xbox Series X/S Will Rise Starting 2023

JAKARTA - Microsoft has confirmed the company's plan to increase the price of the Xbox Series X/S release to US$70 (Rp1.09 million) starting in 2023.

In a statement this was given by Microsoft, a company spokesman said starting next year, the titles Forza Motorsport, Redfall, and Starfield will cost US$69.99 (Rp1.09 million) when launched in the US. Regional prices may be different from each country.

These prices reflect the content, scale, and technical complexity of these titles. Like all the games developed by our team on Xbox, they will also be available with Game Pass on the same day they launched, a Microsoft spokesperson told IGN.

In August 2020, Take-Two's NBA 2K21 became the first generation game to be priced at US$70 (Rp1.09 million). Other companies then followed T2's lead, including Activision, Sony, EA and Square Enix.

Although Microsoft has not released the game at this price, its first-party release list has been relatively empty since the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 launched in November 2020.

"Playing games can be an expensive hobby and I see certain platforms will, at a price of USD 70 for games," Xbox boss Phil Spencer told La Vanguardia a few months ago, citing GamingBolt.

"The console costs $500 (Rp7.78 million) in the US, and I think it's a huge investment for people who don't play video games every day, more casual types of players or families balance things."
