Strategies For Telkomsel And XL Axiata To Escape Global Recession 2023

JAKARTA - The world's economic growth is predicted by the President of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to be dark in 2023 due to a global recession. Therefore, strategies and innovations are needed to deal with it, including by telecommunications operators in Indonesia such as Telkomsel and XL Axiata.

Despite the global recession sweeping the world, Bank Indonesia (BI) noted, Indonesia's economic growth is estimated to be above 5 percent or 5.2 percent. Not only from export performance, but Indonesia's economic growth also emerged in terms of domestic consumption.

However, this does not mean that Indonesia is free from the global recession, especially since the invasion of Russia into Ukraine has not yet ended and a spike in inflation that could at any time threaten the Indonesian economy.

Vice President of the Telkomsel Account Management Area, Samuel Pasaribu, said that entering 2023 there are many challenges in various industrial sectors, especially telecommunications due to changes in the economic climate.

Therefore, Samuel stated that Telkomsel has prepared itself to face various challenges and opportunities next year.

"Telkomsel has ensured the sustainability of the company's roadmap to face all these challenges and opportunities by continuing to innovate to present a variety of products and service solutions that are customer-centric through strengthening its three digital pillars, namely as a provider of Digital Connectivity, Digital Platform and Digital Service," said Samuel at the 2023 Telco Outlook Digital Selular (SDTO) event in Jakarta, Tuesday, December 6.

Samuel explained, as a provider of Digital Connectivity, the company will increase its capacity to network quality by providing equitable 4G/LTE and 5G digital connectivity to remote areas of the country.

Then through the Digital Platform, Telkomsel will innovate to provide a seamless experience for customers in accessing superior products and services.

"As a provider of Digital Service, Telkomsel will continue to expand its digital business line portfolio by presenting innovations in cross-sectoral services to accelerate the opening of more opportunities and ease of innovation in the use of the latest digital technology," Samuel explained.

Meanwhile, Aun Abdul Wadud's Group Head Solutions Architect & Development said that for the past five years before the global recession threatened, XL Axiata managed to maintain its business growth amid many challenges.

Both industrially and globally, such as the COVID-19 pandemic which has been going on from 2020 until now.

"To be able to continue to grow, in 2023 the company will focus on the three pillars of growth. We will continue to increase the offering of Convergence in accordance with the company's vision," said Aun.

"Our convergence will focus on two segments, namely family and business (integrated solutions to SME). We will also continue to develop network infrastructure to support better service quality. Customer satisfaction remains one of our main focuses as something that distinguishes us from other operators."
