Attorney General Reminds Staff Who Have Not Addressed Corruption Cases, Prepare To Be Transferred

JAKARTA - Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin reminded heads of high ranking prosecutors and heads of state prosecutors who have not handled corruption cases in order to optimize their performance.

"There are still work units that have not or have not handled corruption cases," said Burhanuddin when closing the 2020 RI Prosecutors' Working Meeting at the Attorney General's Office complex, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, December 16.

The Attorney General emphasized that his party does not hesitate to take firm action against his staff who do not meet performance targets.

"As a form of commitment to the instructions and directions that I have made, I will take firm action in the form of evaluating positions in work units that have no or no handling of corruption cases at all," said the Attorney General to all the participants of the RI Prosecutor's Meeting.

Because of that, Burhanuddin emphasized, do not be surprised if any head of the work unit, assistant for special crimes, or head of the section for special crimes who receive a transfer letter.

In addition, the Attorney General reminded again of the importance of realizing a concrete commitment to the success of the national economic recovery (PEN) as mandated by President Joko Widodo. Jokowi in the opening of the meeting stated that the prosecutor's role is the face of the government and the face of Indonesian legal certainty in the eyes of the people and internationally.

"So, it should be understood that the government's achievements and public perceptions regarding the success or failure of the implementation of the national economic recovery are determined and colored by the pros and cons," he said.

The Attorney General ordered all levels of prosecutors to dedicate all abilities, competencies and capabilities to optimize the implementation of duties, functions and authorities.
