Member Of The House Of Representatives From PKS: Instead Of Electric Motor Subsidies, It Is Better For The Government To Subsidy Esemka Cars

JAKARTA - Commission VII of the DPR highlighted the government's plan to provide subsidies for the purchase of electric motorcycles worth Rp. 6.5 million. The government will also provide subsidies for the purchase of electric cars. Member of Commission VII DPR RI, Mulyanto, assessed that it would be better for the government to subsidize the purchase of Esemka's electric vehicles. Because according to him, the subsidies distributed will be beneficial for the development of the domestic automotive industry.

"Instead of subsidizing the purchase of motorbikes and foreign-made electric cars, it is better for the Government to subsidize the purchase of Esemka electric cars. They are good good good goods, original by the nation's children," Mulyanto told reporters, Monday, December 5.

According to Mulyanto, the government should not forget the existence of Esemka's car. This car grant was introduced and promoted directly by President Joko Widodo. Therefore, in a condition that has not yet become an Esemka car, 60 thousand units have been ordered. The PKS legislator believes that the public will welcome the proposal for the purchase of Esemka's electric car subsidy. The public, said Mulyanto, will flock to meet the sales dealers of Esemka cars wherever they are.

"In the past, without any subsidies, orders had reached 60 thousand units. Especially later when subsidies were given, I estimate the number of orders could be up to three or four times," said Mulyanto.

In addition, Mulyanto said, the subsidy for the purchase of Esemka's electric car will also have a good impact on national economic growth. Due to the increasing number of subsidies, he said, more and more people ordered Esemka cars, and more and more workers were absorbed.

"This will be a momentum for the revival of the national automotive industry. And as a child of the nation, we will all support it. Malaysia and Vietnam will be mentally looking at this development," concluded Mulyanto. Previously, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, stated that the government was finalizing a subsidy regulation of around Rp. 6.5 million for purchases per unit of electric motor. The same thing is also being prepared for the provision of subsidies for electric cars.

"The motorcycle subsidy is finalizing how many million we want to give subsidies, maybe Rp. 6 million for motorcycles. In Thailand it is Rp. 7 million, maybe Rp. 6.5 million for us, around that much. How many million cars we want to give," said Luhut, last week.
