BEKASI - The Bekasi Metropolitan Police have arrested Marjaya (50), a fraudster with the mode of forgery of certificates and land sale and purchase certificates. The perpetrator was arrested after the police received reports from a number of residents who were victims."We have detained perpetrator M (Marjaya). His status is a suspect after officers made a recall," said Bekasi Metro Police Chief Kombes Gidion Arif Setyawan in Cikarang, Antara, Friday, December 2.He said that currently officers are still continuing to carry out further investigations into cases of falsification of land documents so that they cannot provide detailed information about this, but he ensures that the investigation is accelerated to be completed in the near future.He said officers had asked for marathon information from a number of people who claimed to be victims of fraud by the perpetrators. "There are nine people who have been recorded, they are still under development and investigation," he said.Gidion explained that the construction of this case began with the actions of the perpetrators who were determined to falsify the certificate and the deed of sale and purchase of land (AJB) to be offered to residents who wanted to buy land.This incident has been going on for a long time, even the victims actually made a police report in 2019 with an estimated total loss of more than IDR 2 billion but the handling of the case has not been successfully revealed."Then these victims returned to our office to question the follow-up to the report until we decided to detain the perpetrators," he said.One of the victims of fraud, Irwan admitted that he had submitted a number of evidences, such as payment receipts to fake certificates and AJBs with other victims' colleagues to the police to strengthen the investigation process.Irwan and his uncle admitted that they were deceived after carrying out a two-hectare rice field transaction in Muaragembong District. At that time, the perpetrator brought a land certificate and power of attorney on behalf of Husni. Because he believed in the perpetrator's mode, the victim made the payment.Irwan then checked the location until he found the fact that the location in question was fictitious but the payments had been made in stages and even reached hundreds of millions of rupiah."So he (the perpetrator) offered a land in the name of Haji Husni which was entrusted to the perpetrator. Because we believe, we pay gradually, when there is less than Rp. 20 million, it turns out that the location does not exist. My uncle's loss is Rp. 195 million," he said.Meanwhile, victim Eri Efendi's attorney said that several victims of fraud visiting the Bekasi Metro Police Headquarters experienced a similar mode of case."There have been more than six people who have been deceived, the mode is the same as fake certificates and AJB, the loss reaches Rp. 2 billion. One other victim has even reported this case to Polda Metro Jaya. The reports I submitted concern articles 378 and 372 with evidence of 24 forgery of letters," he said.
