Not A Small Amount Of Budget Has Been Spent On The Bicycle Line, But It Has Even Become A Car Park
JAKARTA - The lack of supervision of bicycle lanes at a number of road points in the Central Jakarta area is used by irresponsible people as a two- and four-wheeled parking lot.
Like Jalan Pejambon and Jalan Salemba, the bicycle lane area has turned into a parking lot for four-wheeled vehicles. There are no officers guarding or reprimanding vehicles parked on bicycle lanes.
"Yes, it is true that in a number of bicycle lanes, Central Jakarta, there are vehicles parked," said Head of the Central Jakarta Transportation Sub-dept., Wildan Anwar when contacted, Friday, December 2.
Wildan admitted that bicycle lanes in Central Jakarta often turn into motorcycle parking areas to cars. The entry of these vehicles is due to the limited number of officers guarding the bicycle lane area.
"Our officers guard from 07.00 a.m. - 10.00 a.m. local time when in the morning, officers are on guard in the afternoon from 16.00 p.m. to 22.00 p.m. local time," he said.
Wildan said that the limitations of officers were one of the factors in which bicycle lanes were often seized or used as vehicle parking lots. In addition, he said, officers not only guard the location of bicycle lanes but still have many other tasks.
"Officers who specifically guard the 120 bicycle lanes are scattered at several points. Meanwhile, 158 officers participated in securing in ring one, train station, lanes - traffic jams in Central Jakarta," he said.
Meanwhile, misuse of bicycle lanes also occurred on Jalan Army Student, Central Jakarta. A number of vehicles such as cars actually park inside the lane. In fact, there are motorcycle users who are desperate to go against the direction on the bicycle lane.
Especially at night, many vehicles park on the bicycle lane. The lack of street light also adds to the impression that the bicycle lane on the Student Army Street is very unkempt and cared for.
The bicycle lane construction is listed in the DKI Jakarta Regional Development Plan (RPD) 2023-2026 which was prepared by former Governor Anies Baswedan before it stepped down.
The budget to build a 195.6-kilometer bicycle lane is prepared in the amount of Rp. 119 billion.
"The construction of bicycle lanes in 2022 will be carried out throughout 195.6 km with a budget of Rp. 119 billion," said Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, through his statement.
