Preston: PGN Jargas Infrastructure Innovation, Improve TKDN And Note 50 Percent Capex Efficiency

JAKARTA - Pertamina Gas Subholding, PT PGN Tbk together with its subsidiary PT PGAS Solution (PGN Solution) developed Preston's innovation (Polyethylene Regulating Station) to increase the investment efficiency value of natural gas networks.

This innovation succeeded in streamlining investment costs by 50 percent, especially in the procurement of Regulation System (RS) and MRS which have been supporting infrastructure for household and commercial gas networks.

Preston is a solution to increase productivity and efficiency in gas network development. All RS components are converted into polyethylene materials with compact design, very easy assembly, skin and protection using the knock down method, so that they can be built in the project site directly.

This innovation was able to save the investment costs of hospitals and MRS from IDR 180 million to IDR 90 million with maintained quality. In addition to cost efficiency, Preston was able to increase the productivity of the procurement of hospitals from 2 units per month to 15 units.

"This preston innovation continues to be encouraged to increase the utilization of TKDN and the efficiency of Jargas Program infrastructure as one of the National Strategic Programs. In line with that, the SAR 22 team has innovated infrastructure facilities, one of which is the reduction in pressure (Regulating Station) using HDPE materials with higher TKDN local content," said PGN's Director of Infrastructure and Technology, Achmad Muchtasyar, Thursday, December 1.

Achmad revealed that this innovation was motivated by Presidential Decree No. 6 of 2019 and 109 of 2022, where field conditions to achieve the target of 1 million Home Connections per year require appropriate efficiency. Efficiency will have a positive impact on the economic feasibility of installing gas networks and supporting facilities.

"So far, hospitals and MRS are crucial supporting facilities in the construction of gas networks. However, the investment value, such as materials for hospitals and MRS, is quite high. The high investment value is also located in technical human resources for connecting steel pipes. So with Preston, it is an efficiency solution for these conditions," said PGN Solution President Director Sabaruddin.

Furthermore, Preston can help accelerate the inventory of PE pipe material data which has been taking a long time. Coordination for execution of action becomes more effective, so that project implementation in the field becomes faster and more directed.

"We hope that this innovation will be useful in a sustainable manner for the Gas Group Subholding, especially in accelerating the gas network business process and improving human resource competence. Alhamdulillah, Preston has created new jobs for 400 operators," said Sabaruddin.

Preston's utilities and values that have been felt towards the gas network development project have brought the PGN Innovation Team and PGN Solution to the award at the National Competition Temu Karya Mutu and National Productivity (TKMPN) XXVI 2022 which will be held November 21-25 2022 at the Lombok Raya Hotel, West Nusa Tenggara.

On this occasion, innovation was carried out with the title "Increase the Investment Value of Medium Gas Distribution Networks by Using Preston in Customers throughout the PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk area".

"With all the efforts to prepare and support that have been made, PGN Solution and PGN won the Platinum award. Furthermore, this innovation will become a national representative to participate in international competitions in Mexico in the 27th ASIA PACIFIC Quality Organization International (APQO-IC) event in October 2023," said Sabaruddin.

TKMPN is organized by the Quality Control ForCE (WKM) in collaboration with the Indonesian Quality Management and Productivity Association (AMMPI), and is supported by the Ministry of Manpower, the Ministry of Industry, and the NTB Provincial government. The TKMPN XXVI was attended by more than 1,500 national class participants in the field of quality management and work productivity.

"We are very proud and appreciate the award. The hope is that this award can motivate us to be able to continue to create other innovations," continued Sabaruddin.

This event is an opportunity for companies, SOEs, the private sector, government institutions, universities and non-profit organizations to demonstrate and promote success, exchange knowledge and experiences in improving quality and productivity that are used as innovations.
