Mourinho Does Not Want To Be Lauded By Klopp's Praise
JAKARTA - Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has refused to be overly proud of Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp's praise while questioning the credibility of the hurricane of injuries faced by his potential opponent for the Week 13 Premier League match at Anfield on Wednesday (Thursday WIB).
Klopp in his pre-season press conference called Tottenham a machine that can always achieve results since under Mourinho's direction, but the Portuguese coach has rejected the label.
"The engine that has always produced is Liverpool in the last few years and Chelsea who I worked with when we won two consecutive league titles," said Mourinho.
"We are a good team who have to work hard, but Liverpool are the result, if I'm not mistaken, 1,894 days of Juergen's work, correct me if I miss the number of days.
"Meanwhile, we are the result of 390 days of work, which is actually not a full count, because most of those days we do not work but go through quarantine and stay at home," he added.
Mourinho also considered Liverpool's hurricane of injury to be excessive, because according to him Klopp had only lost one important player, Virgil van Dijk.
"Van Dijk is injured and he is of course a very good player, but try to give me a list of Liverpool injuries and compare it to Liverpool's list of best players," he said.
Mourinho is clearly ignoring the fact that Liverpool's main goalkeeper Alisson Becker has had to pull out many times this season, the same has happened with their captain Jordan Henderson.
Liverpool's match against Tottenham is a meeting of the two teams at the top of the standings with a collection of 25 points.
If slipped to defeat at Anfield, Tottenham will clearly lose their position at the top of the table.
