Klopp Praises Mourinho, Calling Tottenham The Machine That Always Achieves Results
JAKARTA - Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said he was not surprised by the changes made by Jose Mourinho at Tottenham Hotspur, the team they will face in Week 13 of the Premier League at Anfield, Wednesday local time (Thursday WIB).
Tottenham are currently top of the standings armed with a goal difference advantage over Liverpool, even though both teams have both collected 25 points.
This is inseparable from the positive trend of 11 unbeaten matches that Tottenham are currently doing.
"I'm not surprised. You may have been considered very successful until yesterday and when you failed to prove it today, people will immediately launch criticism," Klopp said at a pre-match press conference quoted by Antara from the official Liverpool website, Wednesday WIB.
"That is the reality and I think Mourinho himself is not surprised. He has shown a resurgence. He has turned Tottenham into a machine that can always achieve results," he added.
This, continued Klopp, not only happened when Tottenham were at their best, even when The Lilywhites performed poorly they could still win, and acknowledged that fact as something impressive.
Liverpool have the opportunity to displace Tottenham from the top of the standings if they win at Anfield tomorrow, but conditions in the top flight of the Premier League are still solid, where currently the distance from the top to eighth is only five points.
According to Klopp, this cannot be separated from the fact that no club can record a clean sweep at the start of the season like Liverpool did last year or Manchester City the previous year again.
"Right now the conditions are like that, whether entering February, March, April and May. To be honest I don't know," he said.
"This league always has a good team, and usually there are teams who run alone at the forefront, but this year it doesn't feel like it happened. It keeps us in a tight situation together. Of course it's fun for the audience," concluded Klopp.
