Bosch And Mercedes-Benz Get Permit To Develop Automatic Parking Applications At Stuttgart Airport

JAKARTA - Bosch and Mercedes-Benz have received approval to create a fully automated parking software that allows self-driving cars to previously ordered parking lots. According to Bosch on Wednesday, November 30, this automatic parking system will be used in the parking lot of Germany's Stuttgart Airport.

The software relies on communication with sensors at the parking location to detect obstacles on its path, and is currently only approved for use in a parking building at Stuttgart Airport equipped with the technology.

Reported by Reuters, the functional will be available to Mercedes-Benz customers who own S Class or EQS cars manufactured from July 2022 onwards.

The two companies received approval in 2019 to start using an automatic multiplet parking system in the parking garage of the Mercedes-Benz Museum, and have been working together in the development of automatic driverless parking since 2015.

According to Bosch's release, car owners can book previous parking lots through the app, and leave their vehicles in the drop-off area. Once they get out, the car will go to its own place, and can be recalled via the app.

Germany passed a law in July last year allowing Level 4 autonomous driving, without human involvement, in designated public space operations areas.
