Public Relations of the Sinabang Syariah Court Hanif Rabban in Simeulue, said that there were 78 cases of unregistered marriages handled from January to October 2022.
"Marriage marriage is not through the Office of Religious Affairs. Until October 2022, there were 78 cases of unregistered marriages submitted to the Sinabang Sharia Court," said Hanif Rabban, as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, November 30.
Hanif Rabban said the unregistered marriage case occurred due to many things. One of them is the issue of economic inability. Most of the unregistered marriage cases handled by the Sinabang Sharia Court are for state law registration.
"It is better if the marriage is registered by the state or registered legally, so that no one is harmed in the future. Economic factors are the cause of many betel marriages in Simeulue Regency," said Hanif Rabban.
According to Hanif Rabban, local governments need to educate the public about the importance of getting married at the KUA, so that it is legally recorded by the state, so that no parties are harmed if problems arise in the future.
In addition to unregistered marriage cases, said Hanif Rabban, the other cases were filed for divorce or the wife filed for divorce from her husband with a total of 42 cases. Meanwhile, the husband sued his wife or divorced as many as 28 cases.
"The motive for the wife to sue for divorce from her husband or sue for divorce is due to economic factors in the household. Meanwhile, divorce from divorce or the husband sued for divorce from his wife due to prolonged domestic fights," said Hanif Rabban.
Hanif Rabban said divorce cases in Simeulue Regency had increased compared to last year. The divorce case was previously decided to mediate with the parties
"When compared to last year, divorce cases, be it lawsuits for divorce or divorce, have increased. The dominant cause is economic problems and quarrels between husband and wife," said Hanif Rabban.
