MANOKWARI - Manokwari Resort Police, West Papua, named three suspects in a suspected treason case during the action of dozens of residents commemorating the anniversary of West Papua New Guinea (WPNG) in the Wosi Manokwari Terminal area, Sunday, November 27 yesterday."Of the 15 people being examined, three of them were named suspects and immediately detained, namely AN, YK and AB with the determination of Article 106 of the Criminal Code regarding treason," said Manokwari Police Chief AKBP Parasian Herman Gultom to reporters at the Manokwari Police Headquarters, Antara, Monday, November 28.The three suspects have different roles in actions that are against the rule of law.Suspect AN is the main actor who acts as a liaison between Manokwari and West Papua and the person who is referred to as the president of the WPNG group."The suspect AN admits that he has a direct relationship with one of the elements in a Dutch country who is considered president, suspect YK acts as the coordinator of the action at the Wosi Manokwari Terminal, and suspect AB acts as a liaison for the local people of West Papua," he said. The results of the examination revealed that dozens of people who attended the WPNG group action were residents from Kaimana, Fakfak and Maybrat districts who gathered and held a joint action at the Wosi Manokwari Terminal."So, this group admits that November 27 is their historic day so that the 2022 celebration will be held in Manokwari. However, this is contrary to the ideology of the Republic of Indonesia because there are shouts of independent Papua to the establishment of symbols that are prohibited in our country," said the Police Chief. On that occasion, the Police Chief also appealed to the people of Manokwari to help create a conducive atmosphere ahead of December 1, 2022 and avoid various calls from irresponsible groups."We make sure that there are no activities from any group that contradict the ideology at the moment of December 1 because it must be dealt with according to the laws that apply in the Republic of Indonesia," said the Manokwari Police Chief.
