Dynastic Political Slanted Sentiment When Almost Half Of Solo Pilkada Voters Did Not Vote For Gibran
JAKARTA - The pair of candidates for Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Solo, Gibran Rakabuming Raka-Teguh Prakoso, won a landslide victory in the 2020 Pilkada quick count, and defeated opposing candidate pairs who were on the independent route.
Based on Charta Politika's quick count, Gibran-Teguh won 87.15 percent. Meanwhile, his opponent was Bagyo Wahyono-FX Supardjo (Bajo) 12.85 percent.
This victory figure is also not much different from the recapitulation of internal votes collected by witnesses candidate pair Gibran-Teguh at each polling station during the voting.
To VOI, the Chairperson of the PDI-P Solo National Election Witnesses Body (BSPN), Sapto Rahardjo explained the results of the collected internal recapitulation. "This data was collected on December 9 at 23.15 WIB," said Sapto, December 14.
From a total of five sub-districts in Solo, Gibran-Teguh received 225,326 votes or 86.13 percent. Meanwhile, Bajo received 36,298 votes or 13.87 percent.
But when compared to the votes acquired by Gibran-Teguh from the total final voter list (DPT), it turns out that almost half of the voters did not vote for Gibran. They cast their votes on opposing candidate pairs or choose to allow the ballots to become invalid or unused.
Still in the data recapitulation owned by BSPN PDIP, the total DPT that can use voting rights is 419,347 voters. However, only 295,041 voters were present at the TPS and voter turnout was only 69.32 percent. Meanwhile, there were 124,306 voters who did not use their voting rights.
If you combine the votes of the voters who casted their ballot for Bajo, plus the invalid votes because they were not used, 160,604 voters did not vote for Gibran-Teguh.
This means that almost half of the voters or 45.57 percent did not vote for Gibran-Teguh, and 54.43 who voted for Gibran-Teguh.
A political observer from Al-Azhar University, Ujang Komarudin, considered the figure of 45.57 percent who did not vote for the candidate pair nominated by the PDIP to be a blow to Gibran. This figure shows that there are a number of people who are embarrassed by the political practices of the dynasty between Gibran and President Jokowi, even though they are in Solo, which incidentally is the home of the PDIP.
"As a base for a bull cage and as a son of the president, this is a warning. Because the people are too fed up with the politics that pretends to be a dynasty. Because the ones who will become are the same families," said Ujang.
This can be seen from the comparison of the votes obtained between Gibran and his father who competed ten years ago in the same city.
During the 2010 Pilkada in Solo, Jokowi, who was paired with FX Hadi Rudyatmo, received 90 percent of the votes with a participation rate of 71.7 percent. Then, in the 2019 presidential election as many as 82.23 percent of Solo voters chose Jokowi-Ma'ruf Amin.
Ujang explained that the low voter turnout and almost half of the DPT did not vote for Gibran could be a form of protest against the political system in Solo to clean up.
"This can be an alarm and a yellow light for Gibran. The people of Solo seem to be smart, understand, and know the political situation in their area. They already know Gibran will win. They already know a lot of conditioning. So, people protest by not choosing Gibran with numbers. 45.57 percent, "he concluded.
