Processes Of Identification Of Victims Of The Cianjur Earthquake Based On DNA Examination
JAKARTA - Karo Dokpol Pusdokkes Polri Brigadier General dr A Nyoman Eddy Purnama Wirawan said that currently the National Police Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) Team identified the bodies of earthquake victims in Cianjur Regency, West Java, based on DNA (Deoxyribose Nucleic Acid). Previously, the National Police's DVI Team identified the bodies of victims of the Cianjur earthquake, using fingerprints and teeth, but as the condition of the bodies was worsened on the seventh day after the earthquake, the method was used based on DNA. "We carry out an identification based on DNA and as soon as possible we will do it. DNA collection here compares the DNA of the bodies with the DNA of their siblings. That is the principle of taking them," said Dr. A Nyoman Eddy Purnama Wirawan, quoting Antara, Sunday, November 27. Nyoman Eddy said to this day, the Police DVI Team has received 160 body bags of earthquake victims in Cianjur Regency. "As for the DVI operation, the Police identified the dead victims, which we have now carried out. Today we received two body bags. So that the total until Sunday, November 27, 2022, the DVI Team has received 160 body bags, both at the Cilase Hospital and RSUD Sayang," he said.
Of the 160 body bags that have been received by the Police DVI Team, seven body bags have not been identified. "But just arrived again in one coffin, just now, not five minutes ago. That's from the Cijedil area (around 15:15 WIB arrived at the post mortem post mortem post mortem post mortem DVI Polda West Java, at the Sayang Hospital, Cianjur Regency) so that there are eight to date (unidentified bodies)," he said. West Java Police Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team stated that until Sunday (27/11) afternoon, had succeeded in identifying 145 bodies of earthquake victims in Cianjur Regency, West Java. "We also identified the victims of the earthquake who died. So far, 145 people have been identified. This team also joined from West Java Province and Cianjur Hospital (United)," said West Java Police Chief Inspector General Pol Drs Suntana at the Sayang Hospital Cianjur Regency. On that occasion, West Java Police Chief Suntana explained about the Health Task Force activities carried out by the Safe Operation Nusa II West Java Police in 2022. Its activities include health checks on victims who were injured due to earthquakes, either minor injuries, moderate injuries or serious injuries and then received people who were affected and were in refugee areas and also identified for earthquake victims who died.*
