Searches For Earthquake Victims Of Cianjur Now Focused On Three Areas

JAKARTA - Acting Head of the Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Abdul Muhari said that efforts to search for victims of the Cianjur earthquake were focused on three areas in Cianjur Regency, West Java Province.

At the Cianjur Regent's Office Hall, Sunday, Abdul said that the team focused on searching the Warung Sate Shinta area, neighborhood RT 3, and Cicadas Village in Cijedil Village, Cugenang District, Cianjur Regency.

"Because it is feared that there are still people who escaped public reports, as happened two days ago, seven (who were reported missing), we found nine. So the Basarnas team still considers it important to dig again at that location," he said as quoted by Antara.

According to BNPB data as of Saturday (26/11) the earthquake that hit the Cianjur Regency area on November 21, 2022, has killed 318 people.

On Sunday morning, SAR officers found another body of an earthquake victim in Cijedil Village.

There are still 14 people who were reported missing after the earthquake hit Cianjur and have not been found.

In addition, the earthquake injured 7,729 people with details of 595 people suffered serious injuries and 7,134 people were slightly injured. A total of 108 people were seriously injured as a result of the earthquake being treated in hospital.

"We also hope that all of this has been handled, has been referred to the hospital, later it is just a matter of waiting for recovery and treatment," said Abdul.

"This means that this process has been completed, we are waiting for the 108 left to be treated, so that the injured victims can be reduced, finally handled," he added.
