BPKH Salurkan Assistance Of Rp2.2 Billion For Earthquake Victims Cianjur

JAKARTA - The Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) handed over assistance worth Rp2.2 billion to earthquake victims in Cianjur, West Java, through the Cianjur Regency Government and the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).

"We from BPKH have provided some assistance to disaster victims either directly or through partners with a total that we have distributed worth Rp. 2.2 billion," said Head of the BPKH Executive Board Fadlul Imansyah in a written statement, quoted from Antara, Saturday, November 26.

In this submission, BPKH was also accompanied by seven benefit partners, namely Zakat House, DT Peduli, Lazismu, LazisNU, PPPA Darul Quran, Baitul Mal Muamalat, and Dompet Dhuafa at the Cianjur Regent's Office.

The assistance was provided in the form of food packages, logistics, public kitchens, emergency tents, portable toilets, hygiene kits, baby, child and female needs.

Fadlul said the benefit program is a form of BPKH's support for the people's economy which includes various scopes, disaster recovery, renovation of worship facilities, and development.

Previously, the BPKH benefit program had also distributed disaster assistance in various regions, including floods in South Kalimantan, NTT, South Sulawesi, and East Java, earthquake disasters in Mamuju and Palu, landslides in Sumedang, and BPKH Sigi and Donggala villages.

Throughout 2022, starting from January to October, BPKH has allocated Rp11.5 billion for disaster emergency programs.

BPKH hopes that in the future the evaluation of disaster management and mitigation and literacy for the community can be improved. The natural disaster management program needs to be made in the hope of reducing the risk when natural disasters occur, especially in vulnerable areas.

"We are concerned and express our condolences to all residents of Cianjur and its surroundings, God willing, we are strong together to deal with all these disasters," said Fadlul.

Previously, Deputy Chairman of Commission VIII DPR RI Ace Hasan Syadzily in the context of monitoring the earthquake emergency response hoped that BPKH could help according to community needs.

"For BPKH, the benefit fund can be adjusted to what the community needs," he said.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 hit Cianjur on Monday (21/11) afternoon. The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) recorded as many as 310 deaths from the Cianjur earthquake as of Friday (25/11). The data will still be updated.
