Competition Of Three Operators To Get 5G Frequency In Indonesia
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Informatics (KemKominfo) has just announced which telecommunications operators have passed the 2.3 GHz frequency auction administration.
Initially, there were five cellular operators that would fight for the 2.3 GHz frequency band with a range of 2360 to 2399 MHz, namely XL Axiata, Telkomsel, Indosat, Smartfren and Tri Indonesia.
Unfortunately, of the five operators, only four submitted their application for selection documents on Thursday, December 10, namely Telkomsel, Tri Indonesia, Smartfren and XL Axiata.
"The four Candidates for Selection Participants as referred to are declared as Participants in the Selection of 2.3 GHz Radio Frequency Band Users in the 2360-2390 MHz Range for the Purposes of Organizing Cellular Mobile Networks," said Kominfo in a written statement, Monday, December 14.
Kominfo also said that the selection team had carried out an examination of the completeness of the 2.3 GHz frequency auction selection administrative documents. In addition, the examination process was attended by representatives of the selection participants as witnesses.
Then, the selection team directly verified administrative documents on December 10 to 11, 2020. And, based on the results of the evaluation, only three cellular operators, Telkomsel, Tri Indonesia and Smartfren, meet the criteria of Kominfo.
In accordance with Appendix I Decree of the Team Leader for Selection of 2.3 GHz Radio Frequency Band Users in 2020 for the Purposes of Organizing Cellular Mobile Networks Number: 4 / KEP / TIM-SEL / KOMINFO / 12/2020 Concerning the Second Addendum of the 2.3 GHz Radio Frequency Band User Selection Documents GHz In the Range of 2360-2390 MHz.
For the Need for Organizing Cellular Mobile Networks related to changes in number 4.7.4 in the selection document, if based on the results of administrative evaluation there are only three selection participants who pass the administrative evaluation stage and have the same time to send the application documents (timestamp), then the selection process will continue to determine rating via timekeeping application.
The ranking determination through the time recording application as intended will be carried out on Tuesday, December 15, 2020.
Previously it was reported, Kominfo explained that the selection of new residents in the 2.3 GHz frequency band was said to be part of supporting digital transformation in the economic, social and government sectors, because there are still radio frequency blocks which are currently not assigned radio frequency band users.
Not only that, the 2.3 GHz frequency auction also aims to increase the capacity of cellular mobile networks, by maximally improving service quality, as well as accelerating the deployment of ICT infrastructure with fifth-generation technology (5G).
