Pj Walkot Makassar Prohibits Hotels From Holding New Year's Eve Parties, Violating Reports To The Police
MAKASSAR - The spread of the COVID-19 virus in Makassar City, South Sulawesi, has increased again. Acting Mayor of Makassar, Rudy Djamaluddin asked his staff to increase supervision of the implementation of health protocols.
According to him, a number of factors have made the transmission rate increase again, namely increasing the economic activity of the community, the implementation of the Pilkada. This includes the weak application of health protocols following the entry of Makassar as the orange zone.
"There are two potential for an increase in COVID-19 that we might face in the future, namely 14 days after the election activities are completed and 14 days after Christmas and New Year. The potential for the spread of the virus at Christmas and New Year can still be prevented by avoiding celebrations other than worship that trigger it. The potential for an increase in Covid. Therefore, there are two things that we have to make sure they run, namely the implementation of health protocols and increasing public awareness, "said Prof. Rudy in a written statement, Monday, December 14.
In addition, Prof. Rudy also emphasized the Makassar COVID-19 Task Force not to issue crowd permit recommendations except for worship activities. All hotel managers are prohibited from holding events to welcome the new year in the form of a party.
"Every hotel, restaurant, and the like will have supervisors who monitor their activities. Those who violate the health protocol as regulated in Perwali 51 and 53 can be proposed to Polrestabes for legal proceedings. Our principle is health above all," continued Prof. Rudy.
In addition, he also asked all sub-district heads to be even more massive in conducting surveillance in the community and coordinating with the Task Force if there was a health protocol violation.
"Also to the Satpol (Civil Service Police Unit) in terms of the implementation of guardian 51 and 53. TNI and Polri will help in the field to ensure there are no violations," he said.
Meanwhile, Kapolrestabes Makassar, Kombes Witnu Urip Laksana, appealed to all parties to educate each other so that there would no longer be a surge in exposed residents.
"Makassar is still the epicenter of the spread in South Sulawesi. All clusters of the spread of COVID-19 have been formed in our region, be it the hotel cluster, offices, places of worship, tourism, and even the family cluster. Everyone must comply with health protocols, namely wearing masks, wash your hands, and keep your distance, "he said.
The police, according to Witnu Urip, have evaluated the level of community compliance with health protocols. The biggest violations occurred during the Makassar Pilkada campaign stage.
"Violations start from not wearing masks, not keeping your distance and crowding. The debates for mayor candidates are all conducted outside Makassar for the sole purpose of prevention," he said.
In this meeting, a number of hotel entrepreneurs who are members of PHRI Makassar city, Forkopimda, sub-district heads, as well as a number of OPD leaders of the Makassar City Government were present.
