Realize Indonesia Into A Global Halal Hub 2024, Coordinating Minister Airlangga Emphasized The Importance Of The Role Of MSMEs And Economic Zones

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto said Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and Economic Strategic Areas played a significant role in realizing Indonesia's vision of becoming a Global Halal Hub in 2024.

In the virtual opening of The 9th OIC Halal Expo and World Halal Summit in Istanbul, Turkey, as stated in Jakarta, Friday, Coordinating Minister Airlangga conveyed the importance of collaboration at the regional level between countries members of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC), especially with Turkey.

"The increasing halal lifestyle in Indonesia creates a good market at the domestic level, coupled with the ease of doing business in Economic Strategic Areas such as the KPBPB and SEZs (Special Economic Zones) makes it easier to access to reach the global market," said Coordinating Minister Airlangga in his statement quoted by Antara, Friday, November 25.

The 9th OIC Halal Expo and World Halal Summit is an exhibition held by the OIC and The Standard and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC) in Istanbul, Turkey, on November 24, 2022.

As a Turkish trading partner country, Indonesia established the largest pavilion and was attended by various local governments (Pemda) that have halal potential, one of which is the KPBPB Bintan Tanjungpinang Region from the Riau Islands which offers integrated halal industrial areas in the Dompak and Senggarang areas.

"Looking at Indonesia's strategic resources in the halal industry, the government supports this potential with ease of doing business in FTZ, SEZ, and industrial areas, which are also supported by the manufacturing industry," said Coordinating Minister Airlangga.

In this activity, the Assistant Deputy for Strengthening the Competitiveness of the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy Kartika Listriana was elected as one of the speakers and presented her study at the World Halal Summit conference.

The study discussed the analysis of the development of the halal industrial area at KPBPB to enter the global halal chain and answer the issue of food security.

There were more than 47 speakers from more than 26 countries carrying the theme Exploring All Aspects of the Growing Global Halal Industry.

The implementation of this activity is expected to reach potential investors in the wider halal supply chain and networks with the same focus as potential partners.
