Salut, Victims Of The Cianjur Earthquake Provide Some Of The Assistance Accepted By Their Villages For Other Regions

CIANJUR - The mutual cooperation action among residents affected by the Cianjur earthquake occurred in Rancagoong Village, Cilaku District, Cianjur Regency, West Java.

One of the residents of Rancagoong Village, Nurdin, said that his area did receive quite a lot of assistance from several parties. Not wanting to enjoy it alone, Nurdin said that his party provided some of the assistance obtained in his village to be distributed to other villages.

"Alhamdulillah, so far the supply of aid from various sources has gradually increased and is significant. Therefore, when new assistance arrives, we distribute it to other areas that are in need because the supply is minimal," said Nurdin on Friday, November 25.

Nurdin Village can get quite a lot of assistance because it has easier access compared to other areas that are also affected by the earthquake.

On the initiative of its citizens, the assistance they get is inventoried by looking at the needs of their villages. Once deemed sufficient, the assistance began to be handed over to other villages.

"We just took the initiative, look for villages based on reports from local residents, information from acquaintances, or see in the media. If anyone complains that they have not received assistance, we will note. If we get excess assistance, then we will distribute it," explained Nurdin.

"We will adjust the number of people in the refugee camps to the availability of food stocks. If for example we get four sacks of rice, it means that two sacks have been handed over to other regions," he continued.

This condition shows that the distribution of aid to residents affected by the Cianjur earthquake has not been evenly distributed. President Joko Widodo acknowledged this. According to him, the cause is that many evacuation points spread to various regions.

"It is difficult to distribute logistics and then also evaluate because there are so many points," said Jokowi after reviewing the earthquake victims who were being treated at the Sayang Hospital, Cianjur Regency, West Java, on Thursday, November 24.

The former governor of DKI Jakarta admitted that he had ordered his staff to deploy helicopters to bring aid which would be distributed to locations affected by the earthquake, especially to locations with road terrains that are quite difficult if taken by land route.

"Use helicopters if needed, because there are too many points, the media also go up and down the mountain which is not easy, and the evacuation of 39 that have not been found," said Jokowi.

In addition, Jokowi also ordered the victims' evacuation team to carry out rescues as soon as possible.

"I also ordered to start immediately before the rain came, hopefully, everything can be handled immediately and then we can concentrate on rehabilitation again because it seems that the earthquake has subsided a bit," he said.
