Tesla's Full Self-Driving Beta Feature Is Available, Although A Use Permit Hasn't BEEN GOT

JAKARTA Tesla CEO Elon Musk said Tesla's Full Self-Driving Beta software was now available to all users in North America, on Thursday morning, November 24. However, the electric car maker is still waiting for regulatory approval for his car to be driven without human supervision.

"Tesla Full Self-Driving Beta is now available to anyone in North America who asks for it from the car screen, assuming you have purchased this option," Musk tweeted on his Twitter account.

Earlier, Musk said last month that Tesla's advanced driver assistant software would not get regulatory approval by 2022.

But Musk hopes to provide an update for the Full Self Driving (FSD) feature by 2023 to show regulators that the technology is much safer than the average human driver.

The Silicon Valley automaker sells an additional 15,000 US dollars worth of FSD software that allows its vehicles to switch lanes and park independently. The FSD complements its standard "Autopilot" feature, which allows cars to drive, accelerate, and brake on the track without driver intervention.

According to a Reuters report, Tesla, which has been criticized for testing its unfinished technology on public roads, is also being investigated by the US Department of Justice over claims that the company's electric vehicles can run alone.
