Cawabup Kotawaringin Timur Irawati Positive COVID-19: Maintain Health

JAKARTA - Candidate for deputy regent for Kotawaringin Timur, Central Kalimantan, Irawati, has publicly announced that he is positive for COVID-19. Currently he is undergoing treatment at the hospital.

"Right now, my family and I are in a hospital for isolation because our swab or PCR results were tested positive for COVID-19," said Irawati in Sampit, quoted by Antara, Monday, December 14.

Irawati's statement was conveyed through a 49-second video recording. In the video, Irawati sits accompanied by her son, who is said to be positive for COVID-19.

The vice regent candidate who in the regional head election on Wednesday (9/12) was paired with the Halikinnor regent candidate admitted that he is in stable condition. He conveyed this information so that the public, especially those who had close contact, could check themselves.

Irawati asked the people of East Kotawaringin to pray that he and his family would recover quickly, recover and all their illnesses were removed. He also wished the entire East Kotawaringin community healthy.

"I advised you to stay healthy, use a mask, avoid crowds and always wash your hands because COVID-19 exists," said Irawati.

The video recording of the delivery of Irawati contracting COVID-19 quickly circulated, including in the Karang Taruna group because Irawati, who is a former member of the Central Kalimantan Provincial DPRD, is indeed a member of the Karang Taruna of East Kotawaringin Regency and Central Kalimantan Province.

Support was also conveyed by the community, colleagues and friends to the woman who was the younger sibling of Regent Supian Hadi. All pray that Irawati and her family will remain enthusiastic and get well soon from COVID-19.

Irawati also responded to the many moral supports and prayers that flowed from the community. He hopes to recover soon from COVID-19 so he can return to his activities.

"Aamiin ya rabbal alamin. Alhamdulillah. Thank you very much for all of your prayers. Greetings to the family. Take care of our health and hopefully we are all in the environment of Allah SWT. Amen," said Irawati in response to prayers conveyed by the community, including through the Youth Organization conversation group.

The chairman of the Central Kalimantan Provincial Youth Organization, Abdul Hafid, appreciated Irawati's open attitude about his condition being exposed to COVID-19. This should be done as a moral responsibility as a figure who meets many people, especially since this disease is not a disgrace.

"He conveyed this as a sportsmanship and openness as a candidate for regional leaders. We pray for Mrs. Irawati and her son to get well soon," said Hafid.

According to Hafid, Irawati's admission was also an awareness to assist the COVID-19 Handling Task Force in tracking to prevent the deadly virus from spreading.

"For those who feel there is close contact with Mrs. Irawati, it is better to get checked out. I have also checked myself, thank God the results are nonreactive," said Hafid.

Meanwhile, based on data from the Task Force for Handling COVID-19 in East Kotawaringin, today there are an additional 49 new cases of COVID-19. In addition, there were 20 patients who were declared cured.

Cumulatively, the number of COVID-19 cases in East Kotawaringin has reached 958 cases, consisting of 513 people who have recovered, 401 people are still being treated and 34 people have died.
