To Help Cope With COVID-19, Maybank Disburses IDR2.68 Trillion For Bio Farma
JAKARTA - PT Bank Maybank Indonesia Tbk (Maybank Indonesia) has demonstrated its role in tackling the impact of COVID-19. This was done by Maybank Indonesia by providing financing facilities to producers and distributors of state-owned pharmaceutical products, PT Bio Farma (Persero).
President Director of Maybank Indonesia, Taswin Zakaria, said that the sharia-based omnibus line facility of US $ 185 million or equivalent to Rp.2.68 trillion was distributed to Bio Farma through several terms.
"This financing facility includes sharia propositions, musharakah trade financing and forward hedging," said Taswin in a press release, Monday, December 14.
According to him, it is an honor for Maybank Indonesia to actively participate in efforts to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia. The hope is that this collaboration can have a broad impact on society and particularly for the government to accelerate the recovery of the national economy and the investment climate in Indonesia.
Regarding financing facilities, Ricky Antariksa, Global Banking Director of Maybank Indonesia said that in line with the sharia first approach, Maybank Indonesia provided this financing solution with the aim of expanding the scope of utilization of sharia-based financing in the Indonesian business world.
Furthermore, regarding efforts to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic, his party assessed that PT Bio Farma (Persero) has a structured procurement plan and has a strong business network through its subsidiary, PT Kimia Farma Tbk. and PT Indofarma (Persero) Tbk, which will carry out distribution functions to the public.
Meanwhile, I Gusti Ngurah Suharta Wijaya, Director of Finance and Business Partners, PT Bio Farma (Persero) explained that currently PT Bio Farma (Persero) is the holding company for pharmaceutical SOEs, together with PT Kimia Farma Tbk and PT Indofarma (Persero) Tbk carries out business activities that focus on tackling the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia.
"Given the breadth and scale of the pandemic response, we need solid and innovative banking partners in providing the right financial solutions," he said.
He hopes that the partnership with Maybank Indonesia can take place productively in line with the government's vision and mission to restore the condition of communities from the pandemic in all corners of the country.
In an effort to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia, the Government through PT Bio Farma (Persero) will strive to meet domestic needs, by preparing as many as 15 million bulk vaccines for the first phase.
