Chairman Of PB IDI: If Mr President Is Ready To Be The First To Be Injected With A Vaccine, IDI Is Also Willing

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Executive Board of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) Daeng M Faqih stated that IDI member doctors are ready to be the first target of COVID-19 vaccination.

"If the President says that he is ready to be the first part of the injection, IDI is also willing to be one of the first to be injected," said Daeng as quoted by Antara, Monday, December 14.

Daeng said IDI supports the vaccination program that will be implemented by the government to control the transmission of SARS-CoV-2, the corona virus that causes COVID-19.

According to him, IDI member doctors are ready to be the first recipients of the COVID-19 vaccine, whose use has received permission from the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM).

Daeng clarified the news that his organization refused the COVID-19 vaccination. The news was said to be able to influence public confidence in the government's vaccination program.

"News like that will have an impact on the vaccination program, because people really believe in doctors and IDI. If IDI refuses, let alone the public," he said.

Daeng said the public should not hesitate to undergo vaccinations if the COVID-19 vaccine is available and BPOM allows its use after checking the efficacy and safety of the vaccine.

IDI stated that vaccination is the second attempt after the implementation of health protocols to reduce the transmission of COVID-19 in Indonesia.
