Member Of The House Of Representatives Thomas Azis, Regent Of Central And East Lampung Was Called By The KPK Regarding The Bribe Of Revenue Of Maba Unila

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) summoned witnesses regarding the alleged bribery of accepting new students who ensnared the inactive Chancellor of Lampung University (Unila) Karomani. They include members of the Indonesian House of Representatives Thomas Azis Riska and Central Lampung Regent Muhammad Kadafi."The investigation was carried out at the Red and White House of the Corruption Eradication Commission," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters, Wednesday, November 23.Next, the anti-corruption commission also summoned three other witnesses. Thus, those examined became 5 witnesses.Those who were also questioned were entrepreneur, Alzier Dhianis Thabrani; East Lampung Regent Musa Ahmad; and a civil servant named Dawam Rahardjo. It is not detailed what will be investigated from the witnesses but they are suspected of knowing the bribes received by Karomani.The KPK has named four suspects in the alleged bribery of accepting new students at the University of Lampung in 2022. The determination of this suspect began with a hand arrest operation carried out in Lampung, Bandung, and Bali.The suspects involved in this case are the Chancellor of the University of Lampung 2020-2024 Karomani; Vice Chancellor I for Academic Affairs of Lampung University Heryandi; Senate Chair of Lampung University Muhammad Basri; and private Andi Desfiandi.In this case, Karomani allegedly set a price for prospective new students on campus with a range of Rp. 100 million to Rp. 350 million while carrying out the Independent Selection to Enter Lampung University (Simanila). This request was made after Heryandi and Muhammad Basri personally selected the ability of parents to pay.From his actions, Karomani allegedly managed to collect Rp603 million from a lecturer named Mualimin. Furthermore, he used the money he received for personal purposes amounting to Rp575 million.Meanwhile, from Muhammad Basri and Budi Sutomo, who are the Head of the Planning and Public Relations Bureau of the University of Lampung, it is suspected that the total money received by Karomani reached Rp4.4 billion. This money was later transferred to deposit savings, gold bars, and some were still in the form of cash.
