Movie Check Store Next To Next To 2 Is More Focused On Problems Faced By Women
JAKARTA - The Cek Toko Next to 2 film offsets the theme raised in the first film with issues that are often faced by women. In the past, the film directed by Ernest Prakasa was more inclined towards masculine issues and put forward the problems of men through Erwin's brothers (Ernest Prakasa), Yohan (Dion Wiyoko), and their father, Kon Afuk (Chew Kinwah).
This film tells the story of the relationship between Erwin (Ernest Prakasa) and Yohan (Dion Wiyoko) brothers and their father, Koh Afuk (Chew Kinwah). The family life of Koh Afuk is different after he no longer owns a shop. However, a new conflict arose when Koh Afuk asked the grandson of Yohan and his wife, Ayu (Adnia Wirasti).
While the couple were still considering the presence of the baby, they suddenly had to take care of a child named Amanda (Widuri Puteri). On the other hand, Erwin had to win the heart of Agnes (Maya Hasan), the mother of her lover, Natalie (Laura Basuki). Erwin had many considerations and put his relationship with Natalie on the brink.
People's expectations that married couples must have children to the problem of facing marriage are one of the main issues. Ko-director Meira Anastasia said the sequel to this film was indeed focused on raising different themes from the previous film.
"That's the reason for a more feminine story to appear, but men can still relate if they have a partner and will be able to see it from two sides," said Meira at a press conference on the screen trailer for the Check Store Next to 2, Jakarta, Tuesday, November 22.
According to Meira's husband, this sequel version presents a more balanced perspective between men and women. "We are also trying to catch other issues such as child free," said Ernest.
After going through the writing process, he realized that the most important thing was not to make something the same, but to offer different messages to the audience.
For Ernest and Meira, what was conveyed via Check Store Next to 2 was actually a reminder for them that parents did not always know what was best for their baby.
"In the end, the message here is a message for myself," said Ernest as quoted by ANTARA.
There are times when parents forget that their treatment for children is similar to what they have experienced before.
"Sometimes we think, how come we repeat something that we don't think is okay?" said Meira.
"This is a cycle that is certain that most parents will like that because they are afraid that their children will fail, they are afraid that their lives will not be okay. But the common thread is communication," said Meira.
