Expenditure Illegal Drilling At The Acting Regent Of Musi Banyuasin, South Sumatra Police Chief Advises Legalization

The Acting Regent of Musi Banyuasin, Apriyadi, said that illegal oil drilling in his area was in the spotlight of his party. Including Forkopimda and stakeholders in the oil and gas sector in the district.

This was conveyed by Apriyadi when discussing the problem of drilling illegal oil or illegal drilling with the South Sumatra Police Chief (Sumsel), Inspector General Pol Rachmad Wibowo at the South Sumatra Police Headquarters, Palembang, Tuesday, November 22.

"In principle, oil in Musi Banyuasin is a gift that needs to be managed properly by the state and used for the greatest prosperity of the people," he said.

Apriyadi said the problem of drilling illegal oil in the Musi Banyuasin Regency Government caused environmental damage, fire hazards, and also had the potential for conflict between residents.

To overcome these problems, he said, it is hoped that support from the South Sumatra Regional Police will take into account the legal, social and economic aspects.

Meanwhile, the South Sumatra Police Chief added that when he served as Jambi Police Chief, he had the same experience as felt by Forkopimda Musi Banyuasin.

He said that efforts to legalize people's oil drilling had been initiated since serving in Jambi, and had even been conveyed directly to President Joko Widodo during a visit to Jambi on April 7, 2022.

However, he continued, as long as the regulations that underlie the validity of oil mining activities do not yet exist, these activities are criminal acts that have corporal and fine punishments.

While waiting for regulatory certainty, based on the Antara report, the South Sumatra Police Chief suggested that a governance plan should be made that at least meets the rules of mining and processing of safe, clean and healthy petroleum.

So if this issue is raised at the provincial and national level, he continued, Musi Banyuasin Regency already has a governance concept that can be considered by regulators.

"With regulations that are easily operationalized in the field, he continued, it is hoped that there will be no more illegal oil drilling activities, thereby reducing environmental damage or fire hazards, and there will be revenues that can increase local revenue," said the South Sumatra Police Chief.

In discussing the problem of illegal oil drilling, Pertamina Ramba Field Manager, Julfrinson A. Sinaga; Head of SKK Migas Ops, Bambang Dwi Gaddafi; Director of PT Petro Muba, Andi Wijaya Busro together with the Police Chief and Dandim 0401/Muba.
