Menpora: FIFA Headquartered In Jakarta After The 2022 World Cup
JAKARTA - The Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Zainudin Amali, stated that FIFA will have an office in Jakarta to assist Indonesia in preparing for the 2023 U-20 World Cup.
The Minister of Youth and Sports said FIFA will have an office in Jakarta to facilitate coordination with PSSI as the local committee. In addition, the mother of world football will also continue to coordinate with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and also the Ministry of PUPR as the person in charge of next year's U-20 World Cup.
Zainudin revealed that FIFA will only have an office in Jakarta after the 2022 World Cup which is currently taking place in Qatar.
"After the Qatar 2022 World Cup, FIFA will have an office here. That (office) has been prepared in Jakarta, it is quite large, they will have an office here during preparations until the completion of the U-20 World Cup," said the Menpora on the ministry's official website, Tuesday, November 22.
"If there is something we have to ask, he (FIFA) is here in Jakarta. So it is easier to coordinate," continued the man from Gorontalo.
Menpora admitted that he had asked President Joko Widodo for the U-20 World Cup to hold an opening and closing ceremony. However, it collided with FIFA rules.
"The opening is the first game," he continued.
For the opening match, three options have been prepared, namely Manahan Stadium Solo, Gelora Bung Karno Stadium Jakarta, and Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium Surabaya. However, the decision regarding the determination of the stadium remains the authority of FIFA.
"So those three are our choices, depending on FIFA who decides, not us," said the Golkar Party politician.
"It's definitely what will be competed in the first match, who will host Indonesia and who will do that. Usually FIFA will give the hosts the honor to be able to compete early," he concluded.
