PLN Implements This In The Main Substation System To Strengthen Electricity Without Help
PT PLN (Persero) maximizes the reliability of the network system by implementing the most advanced Adaptive Defense Scheme (ADS) technology. This technology makes the system in the network anti-light so that it can mitigate disturbances.
General Manager of PLN Central Weight Regulatory Unit for Java, Madura, and Bali (PLN UIP2B Jamali) Munawwar Furqan explained that ADS works by balancing the burden between the generation supply and the load in an area automatically. To support this ADS technology, a reliable telecommunications system is needed with the ability to move the network without a break when a telecommunications failure occurs.
"We are activating this ADS scheme in the Sub-Symptomary to prevent widespread blackouts. ADS needs an independent communication network, which has high reliability and availability such as HSR," said Munawwar, in a written statement, Tuesday, November 22.
The HSR protocol is a redundant ethernet telecommunication network system that allows the creation of zero switchover time. This means that communication will not be cut off when there is a disruption to the communication line of the ADS protection system. reliable communication is needed by the dispatcher to monitor the condition of the system at the main substation, which is a large number and spread.
The HSR protocol-based communication network was built by PLN to support the ADS protection scheme. Data delivery through a communication network is a critical point in a protection system. The response time needed for ADS data delivery is below 10 milliseconds point to point.
"HSR is like a nervous system in the human body. Its job is to communicate all equipment to become a unit of the ADS protection system. Information data will appear on the dashboard and be monitored by the dispatcher. If there is a disturbance in the telecommunications system, information about ADS protection system equipment will fail to be received by the dispatcher," said Munawwar.
Communication failure in a protection system can be fatal. Disorders in the electricity operating system will be slower to resolve. Disorders can expand so that community activities become disrupted. Especially in the Sub-Symmetry, PLN has the potential to lose around 1.2 billion rupiah/hour in revenue due to an energy load of 840 MWH that is not channeled to consumers.
Protocol High-availability Seamless Redundancy (HSR) implemented by PLN UIP2B Jamali is the first to be used in Indonesia. This technology began to be used in March 2021. Since the installation, a lot of HSR protocol testing has been carried out which shows that communication with HSR reaches a speed of 3 milliseconds point to point.
"PLN is an adaptive company. In order to maintain the reliability of the system, PLN follows technological developments, such as implementing telecommunications technology with HSR protocol for more reliable electricity systems," said Munawwar.
