Cristiano Ronaldo Believes In His Controversial Interview About Manchester United Not Disrupting The Portugal National Team At The 2022 World Cup
JAKARTA - Portugal's national team player, Cristiano Ronaldo, stressed that the harmony of the team at the 2022 World Cup will not be disturbed by the situation at Manchester United. The player said A Selecao was ready for the opening match of Group H against Ghana on Thursday, October 24.
Before flying to Qatar, Ronaldo conducted a controversial interview. He made his position at the club threatened by criticizing club management and manager Erik ten Hag.
There are concerns that this controversy will also disrupt the focus of the Portugal national team in the World Cup. However, Ronaldo denied it.
Ronaldo emphasized that the atmosphere in the Portugal national team was extraordinary and unshakable.
"I have no doubt that recent episodes, interviews and other episodes with other players sometimes happen, sometimes it can surprise the player but, it won't bother the team," Ronaldo said at a press conference as reported by Antara via AFP, Monday.
"I don't have to worry about what other people think, I speak when I want. Everyone in the team knows who I am, what I believe in," he continued.
Ronaldo also responded to a video that made him look not getting along with Bruno Fernandes. He said it had been exaggerated by the media.
"In the final stages of the competition, there are always moments like that," said Ronaldo.
"We're just playing games, I have a good relationship with him (Bruno). I asked him, because the plane was late, I asked if he was here (Qatar) by boat."
"The same thing happened to Cancelo, he was a bit sad during training and I held his neck and told him 'Come on, you can', that's what I said and then it was made controversial by you (media)," he continued.
Portugal opened their Group H campaign against Ghana before facing Uruguay and South Korea. Ronaldo was ready to appear and help the team win.
"I feel amazing, I have restored my best condition, we had a good training session, the team and myself, I am ready to start the World Cup in the best way," Ronaldo added.
