TANGERANG - The police arrested four perpetrators on suspicion of murder and theft with violence and conspiracy against an online taxi driver, Asep (37) in Cikuya, Solear, Tangerang Regency. The 4 perpetrators had the initials AS, AR, JG and S.
The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tangerang Police, Kompol Zamrul Aini, said the arrests were made in the Sukabumi area, West Java, on Thursday, November 17.
"Three people have been named as suspects in premeditated murder with the initials JG, AS and AR," Zamrul told reporters at the Tangerang Police, Monday, November 21. While the initials S has been named a suspect in an evil conspiracy," he continued.
Zamrul explained the chronology of the incident of the premeditated murder. It started with three perpetrators ordering online taxis. Then they asked to be delivered to a place far from the crowd.
"When on a quiet road, the perpetrator, who was sitting behind the driver, immediately caught the victim's neck using a wire rope and other perpetrators helped cover the victim's mouth with duct tape until he finally died," he said.
After finding out that the victim had died, the 3 suspects immediately threw Asep under the bridge. Then he took the victim's car to sell to the collector, S.
"The victim who died, (later) was thrown into the river under the bridge and then the perpetrator took the victim's car to be sold to the collector," he said.
However, when they arrived there, the perpetrators had not found a suitable price so the car was just left in the bushes.
"So there is no suitable price between the collector and the prospective buyer. Finally the car was left in the bushes and the perpetrator fled," he said.
Zamrul continued, the perpetrators fled to the house of one of their relatives in the Ciracas District, Sukabumi Regency, West Java. "They all fled to Sukabumi. When they were arrested they did not fight back and immediately confessed their actions," he said.
To account for their actions, the three perpetrators of the murder were charged with Article 340 of the Criminal Code, Subsidiary Article 338 of the Criminal Code or Article 365 of the Criminal Code with a maximum threat of death penalty or life imprisonment. "Our custodians apply Article 480 of the Criminal Code with a threat of 4 years in prison," he concluded.
