East Java Regional Police Arrests Threat Video Spreader To Mahfud MD On Youtube Amazing Pasuruan

SURABAYA - The East Java Regional Police's Special Criminal Investigation Directorate arrested four actors who spread videos containing hate speech and threats against the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD.

"The arrests of the four perpetrators are based on reports received by the police," said Head of Public Relations of the East Java Regional Police, Kombes Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, quoted by Antara, Sunday, December 13.

The four perpetrators who have been named as suspects for distributing the video containing hate speech and threats against the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, respectively, have the initials AH, MS, SH, and MN, all of whom are from Pasuruan.

"On the basis of this report we are carrying out an investigation. There are four suspects who have been arrested and detained," he said.

Meanwhile, the Director for Criminal and Criminal Investigation of the East Java Regional Police, Kombes Gidion Arif Setyawan, explained that the MN suspect uploaded a video containing hate speech and threats against the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD on a Youtube account called "Amazing Pasuruan" on November 9, 2020.

"The one being threatened was Prof. Mahfud MD. Threatened if he returned (to Pamekasan) he would be slashed. This means that it is very personal and not worthy of being used as YouTube content," said Gidion.

Furthermore, from the search, there were three other people, namely AH, MS, and SH who participated in distributing videos containing hate speech and threats against the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD through a WhatsApp group called "Front Pembela IB HRS".

"If this is not strictly enforced, the new civilization space for social media in cyberspace will be damaged and affect the real world," he said.

The four suspects are charged with Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 19 of 2016 concerning Amendments to Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions Article 27 paragraph (4) Jo Article 45 paragraph (4) and / or Article 28 paragraph (2) Jo Article 45 paragraph (2) and Article 14 paragraph (1) of Law Number 1 Year 1946.

"The four of them face a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison," he said.
