The Deputy Minister Of Religion Hopes That Rizieq Shihab's Detention Will Not Be Overreacted

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Religion (Wamenag) Zainut Tauhid Sa'adi hopes that the detention of the High Imam of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), Rizieq Shihab, will not be overly responded to.

"Just follow the process, pray that this case is resolved and all parties receive justice," Zainut said as quoted by Antara, Sunday.

Zainut also hopes that Islamic community organizations prioritize wisdom in preaching to uphold the truth (amar ma'ruf) and prevent evil (nahi munkar).

According to him, currently there are those who think that amar ma'ruf is done in a gentle, wise and peaceful manner, while nahi munkar is done in a hard way.

"Rasulullah taught that to carry out amar ma'ruf nahi munkar it must be full of wisdom, a good example and discuss in a better way," he said.

Zainut also stated that the circulation of hate speech and various kinds of hoaxes, including hoaxes on religious issues, on social media can give rise to intolerance.

"This can create intolerance in society, as well as a challenge to the harmony of national life," he said.
