Vice President Ma'ruf Muhammadiyah's Message Was Not Torn Apart During The 2024 General Election
JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin advised Muhammadiyah residents not to be killed during the simultaneous elections in 2024.
"I hope that the upcoming elections, both presidential and legislative elections, will not tear our integrity and unity apart," said Vice President Ma'ruf at the Edutorium of Muhammadiyah University Surakarta, Central Java, quoted by Antara, Sunday.
The vice president conveyed this when closing the 48th Congress of the Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah Central Board (PP).
"Different parties, different presidential candidates should also not divide the integrity of this nation. As I often say, we say different parties, we say 'lakum party walana party', if different presidential candidates' lakum capresum walana presidential candidate', your presidential candidate, my presidential candidate is my presidential candidate, especially together with Muhammadiyah, "added the vice president.
According to the Vice President, one of the toughest challenges facing the Indonesian nation is the multidimensional crisis due to the pandemic and international conflicts.
"We are struggling to recover, because in truth we can only talk about progress if we are able to recover from the crisis that is blocking now," said the Vice President.
This means that unity and integrity are the first and main assets for the Indonesian nation to win this fight.
"Let's take care together by always prioritizing ukhuwah Islamiyah, ukhuwah wathaniyah and ukhuwah insaniyah in our social interactions," said the Vice President.
Vice President Ma'ruf added that moderate Islamic da'wah must also continue to be carried out with a commitment that never fades.
"Because Islam wasathiyah is the identity of Indonesian Muslims. Recently the group of the Hukama al Muslimin Council said that the model of tolerance in Indonesia needs to be used as a model of tolerance at the global level. They conveyed that they came here not to teach Indonesia but to learn from Indonesian civilization and now is not the time for writing to be translated into Indonesian but it is time for Indonesian to be translated into Arabic," explained the Vice President.
This means that the Indonesian peace model, according to the Vice President, is a model that is being studied at the global level.
Present at the event were Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, Deputy Minister of Religion Zainut Tauhid and Mrs. Halimah Zainut Tauhid, Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo and Mrs. Siti Atiqoh Ganjar Pranowo, Mayor of Surakarta Gibran Rakabuming, General Chairperson of PP Muhammadiyah for the period 2022-2027 Haedar Nashir, and General Chairperson of PP Aisyiyah for the period 2022-2027 Salamah Orbabinah.
